The Historic Village of Brockport & the Peddler’s Market

The historic Village of Brockport was one of many ports on the Erie Canal (you can still tie your canal boat there overnight), but now is best known as the home of the State University College at Brockport. Driving into town along Main Street takes you past beautiful old Victorian homes, and the historic downtown features one of the oldest continuing operating movie theaters, The Strand. As in most college towns, you’ll find unique shops and boutiques, but don’t miss the well-loved Lift Bridge Book Shop (where you can buy a copy of 60 Fun Things to Do Within 60 Miles of Rochester!).  This Saturday, Sept. 8, is the annual “Peddler’s Market” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Morgan-Manning House (151 Main St.).  The Market features artisans, antiques, plants, baked goods, fresh produce and The Art Tent highlighting Brockport artists.  Admission is free.  Call (585) 637–3645 for details on the Peddler’s Market, and learn more about Brockport at the Village website.
