Seneca Park Zoo
Elephants, Lions, and Bears. Oh, my!
See a two-ton elephant get her toes scrubbed. Watch polar bears and sea lions play under the waves, or see the splendidly regal Amur tigers, Anastasia and Katya. In recent years, the zoo has been transformed into a true park that offers a more natural habitat for more than 300 kinds of living creatures. There are some other creepy, crawly critters to watch at the zoo, especially around Halloween, and some of them are actually kids dressed up in costumes. The Seneca Park Zoo’s Halloween extravaganza, ZooBoo, runs through October and there’s lots for kids to see and do, including 15 trick-or-treat stations (with healthy snacks, candy and trinkets), a special gift and take-home craft to make, live performers and costumed characters, and a chance to watch some of the zoo’s residents–otters, orangutans, lions, elephants and meerkats–receive their own Halloween treats. The admission to ZooBoo is $7 (+ Zoo admission fee) for non-members and $7 for members.
