Lake Ontario Beaches and Lighthouses
Labor Day weekend is traditionally the end of summer, so why not end the season at one of the beaches along Lake Ontario. There are plenty to choose from, and you don’t have to go far. Always popular are Ontario Beach Park in Charlotte (don’t forget to check out the 1905 Dentzel menagerie carousel and the Charlotte-Genesee Lighthouse) and the beach at Durand-Eastman Park. Or plan a longer a drive east to Sodus Bay where you can visit the Sodus Bay Lighthouse or west to Hamlin Beach State Park where you can swim, ride your bike, canoe or kayak. Just pack a picnic, beach chairs, your swimsuit, bike or running shoes, and relax and enjoy the end of a beautiful upstate New York summer.
